FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR AUDITIONS?
No need! We operate fully on a walk-in basis, so just show up at the Lawn when you are ready to audition! However, you can visit the Ektaal booth at the Fall Activities Fair to get on our email list for audition information, meet current members, and ask any questions.
WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE?
A verse and chorus of any song of your choice. If you can beatbox, please show us!
We will also have warm-up scales, pitch recall, and a blending exercise prepared for you.
Feel free to sing any genre and/or any language of music! Try to show off your range, musicality, and any other vocal talents you may have, but most importantly make sure you are comfortable with the song. You should be able to sing it without using any background tracks.
We will notify you by email if you are invited to callbacks!
IF I DIDN'T MAKE IT THE FIRST TIME, CAN I TRY OUT AGAIN?
Yes! Some of our members tried out more than once before they became a part of the group. We recommend that you email us for feedback on your audition.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT OF BEING IN EKTAAL?
We rehearse twice a week for a total of 5 hours per week, with some extra practices leading up to concert. If you're worried about the time commitment, don't be! Many of our members are also heavily involved in other activities.
